Camden Trades Council is a body bringing together different trade unions with members who work or live in the London Borough of Camden. Delegates from these unions meet to discuss local campaigning and employment issues, disputes and other developments, and look for ways of supporting workers in Camden.
We have occasional street stalls and, with the Council banner, we have given support to workers in disputes around the Borough as well as on marches and demonstrations.
We meet on third Monday of each month at Crowndale Centre, Crowndale Road.
Monday 4 May
To mark the centenary of the General Strike on 4 May 1926, we unveiled a red plaque at 67 Camden Road, which was the headquarters of St Pancras Trades Council during the strike. The unveiling took place with speeches from RMT General Secretary Eddie Dempsey; Kevin Courtney, former Camden NEU branch secretary and former NEU General Secretary; and Sarah Friday, Trades Council Secretary, who has researched the history of our predecessor Council during the Strike and organised the commemoration.
