This Friday, marking two weeks since the devastating Super-Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines, we will be holding a vigil in solidarity with those who have been affected. The vigil will be taking place outside the Philippines UK Embassy.
This Friday also coincides with the end of COP19 (International talks on climate change) where Yeb Sano, the Climate Commissioner for the Philippines, made an impassioned plea for action.
“Superstorm Haiyan is a climate nightmare — carbon pollution is driving more frequent and intense storms which are devasta..ting vulnerable communities. New realities require new politics, I urge you to stop the sad tradition of feet-dragging on commitments to cut pollution, and breaking promises on finance”
Please come along and stand in solidarity with the people of the Philippines. If possible please bring a glass jar and a tea candle, and don’t forget to wrap up warm
