After the horrific shootings in France there has been an outburst of racism and Islamophobia which far right groups have tried to take advantage of and that means that Le Pen’s visit and the demonstration against the EDL in Dudley are of importance to antiracists and antifascists. UAF and Stand up to racism have called an important public meeting on 29th January. See our statement calling for unity against racism, fascism, anti-semitism and for a defence of civil liberties. The next week ahead sees a number of anti-racist and anti-fascist initiatives, with Reverend Al Sharpton flying to Britain, the Black Lives Matters tour with a speaker from Ferguson and Holocaust Memorial Day.
Join the events next week and register for the UAF conference 21 Feb and help us build the biggest anti-racist/anti-fascist demo of the year on UN Anti-racism day 21 March!

Rally – No Platform for fascists – Marine Le Pen Not Welcome Here. Oxford town Hall, 7pm Wednesday 28th January
Marine Le Pen has used the recent killings in Paris to launch attacks on Muslims and migrants. Oxford is a multicultural city that has been targeted by fascists. The Oxford Union should not be giving racists and Islamophobes the prestige of speaking at their institution. We demand Marine Le Pen’s invitation is rescinded.

Following the recent tragic attacks in Paris there is a growing backlash against the Muslim community. It is imperative to bring the discussion on rising Islamophobia in Britain and Europe and its underlying causes to the forefront. The context of the War on Terror is being ignored by mainstream media reports.
