Camden Council and school meals contractor, Caterlink (part of catering giant, Westbury Street Holdings), have reached agreement on the implementation of the London Living Wage from 01 September this year. For more than 230 workers on this outsourced contract this means a 39% rise from an abysmal £6.60 to a modest £9.15 an hour. The deal came as the result of a Camden UNISON-led campaign that included lobbies of Council meetings last November and 02 March this year. Here’s the link to coverage in today’s edition of the ‘Camden New Journal’, which provided invaluable coverage that boosted our campaign with special thanks to William McLennan for his dogged determination in pursuing the story, to UNISON co-convenors, Hugo Pierre and John Shepherd, and, of course, to all our members on the Caterlink contract. Congratulations!: http://www.camdennewjournal.com/schoolllw
