Support Will Jennings, UNISON Shop Steward – No to the transfer!

We demand that the plan to TUPE transfer just one Camden employee, UNISION shop steward, Will Jennings, from the Council’s employment at the Holmes Road building to the non-union private contractor, Volker Highways, be scrapped. Senior management has been persuaded to defer the transfer, but as things stand he could still leave Camden’s employment with effect from Monday 23 May

We believe that management’s decision to transfer Will is not based on a sound business case, but is purely because of his role as a UNISON steward and amounts to victimisation on the grounds of his Trade Union activity. There was never any prior discussion with Will or UNISON about the possibility of his transferring Public Realm contract until weeks after it had been awarded.

• There are nearly 30 Agency workers in CBM at the moment – UNISON put forward an alternative proposal that would have allowed to remain in Camden, but management rejected this out of hand

• The decision to refuse training as a bricklayer was based on a single ‘test’ with no independent observer present.
Camden unison branch has called a protest at the Holmes Road depot, NW5 3AP from 8.30 up until 10.00 AM on WEDNESDAY 04 MAY.please come
